    Questions

Is this the same viewer you see at landmarks?

Yes. It's an original Tower Optical viewer that spent its working life at a public overlook, refurbished in our Norwalk shop. Unlike our Landmark Collection, you don't choose a specific machine or its history; we refurbish one from the machines in our shop.

What's the difference between the three models?

Coin-operated takes 25¢ or 50¢ per view. Free use has no coin mechanism at all. Free use, classic look keeps the original coin mechanism on the front so it looks exactly like the ones at the overlooks, but it's for looks only. It's free to use and never needs coins.

    Standard or ADA-accessible base?

The standard base puts the eyepieces about 59 inches up, comfortable for most adults standing. The ADA-accessible base sits lower so someone seated, including in a wheelchair, can use it. Same price either way.

    Can it go indoors? Outdoors?

Both. It was built to stand outside in all weather, and it works just as well in a study, lobby or game room. Plan for about 300 pounds on a 24-inch base.

Does it need to be bolted down?

It can be mounted to a concrete pad or slab, or to a wooden deck or platform, and we include the mounting hardware for either. It can also be free-standing; at about 300 pounds it stays put, though we recommend mounting it outdoors or anywhere it might be bumped. You'll tell us which at checkout so we pack the right hardware.

How does a custom color work?

The head is always chrome-plated bronze; the color goes on the yoke, pedestal and base, which are black as standard. Tell us the color at checkout: a name, a hex code or a Pantone number. Before we paint, we'll contact you to confirm it. Custom color adds $499.

How is it shipped, and what's liftgate delivery?

Shipping & handling is a flat $599 anywhere in the lower 48. That covers packaging and palletizing in our shop (we box and pad the viewer head, then strap it, the pedestal and the base securely to a freight pallet) and delivery by freight truck. Freight trucks unload at a loading dock; if you don't have one (most homes don't), choose liftgate delivery for $99 and the driver lowers it to the ground with a hydraulic lift. Moving it from the curb to its final spot is up to you.

    How long until it arrives?

It ships in 4–6 weeks. We'll contact you to schedule delivery when it's ready.

    How do I pay?

The full amount at checkout, through Stripe. Pay by card, or by bank transfer (ACH) and save 3%. Bank transfers take a few business days to clear; we start once they do.

    Do you charge sales tax?

Connecticut sales tax (6.35%) is added for Connecticut delivery addresses. Other states aren't charged sales tax at checkout.

Can I cancel or return it?

You can cancel for a full refund any time before your viewer ships. Just email sales@toweropticalco.com or call us. Once it has shipped, the sale is final and it can't be returned.

What if it ever needs service?

Every viewer carries a lifetime parts warranty and unlimited phone support from the same shop that has kept the fleet running since 1933.

Can I order more than one?

Yes, two at checkout, built the same (same model, base and color). Shipping is $599 for the first viewer and $299 for the second, since they ship together; liftgate delivery is charged once. For three or more, or a mix of models, use Request a quote and we'll price freight and any volume discount.

Alaska, Hawaii or outside the US?

Use Request a quote and we'll price freight for you, usually within one business day.
